Bob-Manuel Udokwu And Ireti Doyle Receive Honorary Doctorates From Benin University


Nollywood stars Bob-Manuel Udokwu and Ireti Doyle received honorary doctorates from the Institut Supèrieur de Communication et de Gestion (ISCG) in Contonou, Benin Republic.

Ireti shared pictures from the ceremony on Instagram Sunday, noting that even though she did not expect the honour, “Dr Ireti has a nice ring to it.”

“I have envisaged many things for myself… and having put, and still putting in the work, I have a healthy expectation of receiving ‘accolades.’

“But at no point did I see THIS coming…Mommy would have been mighty proud!!

“Dr. Doyle has a nice ring to it,” she wrote.

The “Tinsel” star then shared another picture taken with Bob-Manuel, taking the opportunity to travel down memory lane as she recalled their role in “Living in Bondage” which is regarded which regarded as the movie that redefined Nollywood.

“Congratulations also to my senior colleague Dr. @bobmanueludokwuofficia,” she wrote.

“Incidentally, he mentioned that “Living In Bondage”, the movie that redefined and birthed the Nollywood we now have; was 30 years old to the day…We’ve come a mighty long way!”

The two veteran movie stars join Tiwa Savage, Omotola Jalade-Ekheinde, Linda Ikeji, Eucharia Anunobi, Peter Okoye of P Square, Mike Ezuronye, Mo Abudu and Big Brother Naija’s  Anto Lecky on the list of Nigerian celebrities who have recently been honoured with doctorate degrees.
