Nicki Minaj Reacts to Her Husband's Sentence in a Sex Offender Case, Kenneth Petty

Nicki Minaj offered her husband some encouragement after he received his sentence in the continuing sex offender case yesterday.

Kenneth Petty, the husband of Nicki Minaj, will spend the upcoming year spending time with his family because he was given a year of home detention for failing to register as a sex offender in California.

The rapper's husband was being pushed by the prosecution for a 15-month prison sentence and a five-year probationary period. But on Thursday, Justice Michael Fitzgerald, the judge, imposed three years of probation, a $55,000 fine, and ordered the home detention.

Nicki Minaj responded on Instagram on Thursday night by posting many images of her family as well as one of Petty and their two-year-old son, Papa Bear.

Kenneth Petty will be kept in his wife's California mansion. The judge argued that because Kenneth Petty's failure to register as a sex offender was a less serious offense than other offenses and because prisons are already overcrowded and anticipate an increase in covid cases as a result of the Omicron variant, sending him to prison was the least preferable course of action.

In September 2021, Petty entered a guilty plea and placed himself at the court's mercy. While his wife did not actively assist him, she did submit a letter to the defense team on his behalf in which she discussed the potential effects on her son of his father going to prison.

If his father were to leave his son's life, "I have no doubt that my boy would be scarred," Minaj stated. Since I've known Kenneth Petty for more than 20 years, I've noticed that he needs guidance. She stood with Petty, saying, "I've personally witnessed his sincere development.

Petty also apologized for breaching the law and damaging his wife's reputation.

I accept complete responsibility for whatever that occurs today, he declared. "I disrespected my wife's brand and am ashamed, embarrassed, and angry. I broke the law; there are no justifications. I appreciate having the opportunity to speak and express my regret.

Petty's conduct resulted from the need to register as a sex offender under California law as a result of his 1994 conviction for rape in New York City, where he spent more than four years in jail.

In 2019, Petty relocated to California to be with Minaj and was apprehended by law enforcement during a traffic stop.

According to a TMZ report, prosecutors were not pleased with the sentencing since they said that home detention was not a true punishment because he and his wife reside in a lavish multi-bedroom estate in a gated enclave in Calabasas, as opposed to the basic amenities a jail would provide.
