Hurray! Officially Declared As The PDP's Deputy Governorship Candidate In Lagos is Funke Akindele

Funke Akindele, a Nollywood actress and director, has been formally announced as the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) deputy governorship candidate for Lagos state.

The July 12 announcement was made by the movie star on her Instagram page.

"Dear Lagosians, I feel it is necessary to inform you of my choice to enter what I see as a far larger field in which to assist humanity. I firmly believe that you should hear directly from me," she stated.

Akindele claimed she made the decision to take on the obligation to support women and enhance the welfare of young people, women, and girls.

"I have the luxury of working with a variety of people thanks to my main career in the entertainment sector, which has lasted more than 25 years, and the God-given grace to achieve pretty amazing success. I saw it as a chance to contribute to the liberation and betterment of our people, especially the underprivileged youth, women, and girls, she continued.

In addition to accepting this enormous responsibility, I have made the commitment to work relentlessly and support Jandor in his unquenchable passion to see our beloved Lagos reach its full potential.

The actress added that she would suspend her acting endeavors in order to focus on this new chapter.

The candidate for governor's office's spokeswoman named Akindele and four other people as running mates earlier in July.

The actress will be running with PDP candidate Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, for governor of Lagos State now that she has been formally named as the deputy candidate.

Akindele is not only a well-known actress; she is also a lawyer and a producer of movies.
