Ebuehi, a defender for the Super Eagles, moves permanently to Serie A

Tyronne Ebuehi, a right back for the Super Eagles, has signed a three-year contract with FC Empoli of Serie A in Italy.

The 26-year-old played 19 league games, including 12 starts, for Venezia last season while on loan from another Serie A team. His playing time was significantly reduced due to injuries.

After playing for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Ebuehi left Dutch club Ado Den Haag and signed a five-year contract with Portuguese powerhouse Benfica.

He unfortunately missed the entire 2018–2019 season due to a cruciate ligament rupture he sustained in an International Champions Cup loss to Juventus.

Ebuehi spent the rest of the season trying to get back into Benfica's senior team after his injury absence.

After having trouble, Ebuehi was given a season-long loan to FC Twente of the Dutch Eredivisie. He restarted his career when he returned to the Netherlands, where he was born, playing 34 times for FC Twente across all competitions.

Despite demonstrating his match readiness with Twente, Ebuehi was moved out on loan once more; this time, he was transferred to Venezia, where he made an impression that led to a permanent transfer to Empoli.

He quits Benfica without ever participating in a senior match.
